We design through relationships.
We transform difference into creation.
And creation into care.

We are developing and prototyping a new kind of school bag for children afflicted by conflict and natural disaster.

A school bag on wheels that opens into a small study table to create a school everywhere

Our name comes from the ancient Hittite word anniyā عَنِيَّة —“to act, create, make grow” — reflecting our commitment to transformation through collective care and action.
Anniya is an informal, non-profit collective founded by designers and educators who see education and creativity as essential tools for resilience, recovery, and cultural preservation.
The collective was founded by Walid Mawed, Tania Biancalani, and Oriana Ferraguzzi. Walid Mawed, a Palestinian designer and creative director, focuses on social and environmental fragility. Tania Biancalani, a linguist, educator, and project manager, works in intercultural education. Oriana Ferraguzzi is an Italian language educator, translator, and designer of educational activities.
